Throughout his 30-year EMS career, Robert Nixon, MBA, EMT-P, dedicated himself to the education of EMS professionals. An acclaimed author, respected speaker, mentor and EMS Magazine advisory board member, Bob's passion for excellence in EMS education was unsurpassed. Sadly, in June 2008, Bob passed away after losing his battle with skin cancer. To honor his legacy, his family created The Robert G. Nixon Memorial Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to provide access to educational opportunities for deserving EMS professionals with the Robert Nixon scholarship program. Applications are now being accepted for the 2009 Robert Nixon Scholarship. In partnership with EMS EXPO, The Robert G. Nixon Memorial Foundation will provide two scholarships that will each consist of a three-day core program EMS EXPO registration and $1,000 to pay for travel expenses to the 2009 EMS EXPO, scheduled to be held in Atlanta, GA, October 28-30. To be considered, please tell us in 500 words or less what attending EMS EXPO means to you, and how you would reinforce Bob Nixon's legacy in your department or organization through the sharing of knowledge and education development.
